The BMW X3 is a compact luxury crossover SUV that has been in production since 2003. The latest generation of the X3 was introduced in 2017 and it includes the BMW X3 Hybrid. The BMW X3 Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid version of the X3 and it offers an impressive combination of fuel efficiency and power.
The BMW X3 Hybrid has a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that is paired with an electric motor. The engine produces 180 horsepower and the electric motor produces 108 horsepower, for a combined power output of 288 horsepower. The hybrid system is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
The BMW X3 Hybrid has a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that allows the vehicle to travel up to 17 miles on electric power alone. When the battery is depleted, the gas engine kicks in to provide additional power. The X3 Hybrid has a total range of up to 340 miles.
The BMW X3 Hybrid has an EPA fuel efficiency rating of 24 mpg combined city/highway when running on gas power only, and an impressive 60 MPGe when using electric power.
In addition to its hybrid powertrain, the BMW X3 Hybrid comes standard with all-wheel drive, leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Optional features include a head-up display, wireless device charging, and a Harman Kardon premium sound system.
